CMMediator: Required Permissions & Antivirus Exclusions

CMMediator: Required Permissions & Antivirus Exclusions

PURPOSE

This document provides the required system permissions and antivirus exclusion settings needed to ensure proper communication between Verisurf, the Verisurf Device Interface, and CMMediator Software.

SCOPE

In environments that enforce strict security policies (such as least privilege access), certain directories and executables may be restricted by default. These restrictions can interfere with communication between Verisurf Device Interface components and CMMediator Software.
The intent of this document is to guide IT administrators and users in configuring:
  1. Required read/write permissions
  2. Antivirus exclusions for critical executables
This ensures stable operation and communication with connected measurement devices.

PROCESS

1. Configure Read/Write Permissions
Grant read/write permissions to the following directories:
  1. C:\Program Files\Mastercam20XX
    1. Root directory for Verisurf
  2. C:\Program Files\Verisurf Device Interface
    1. Installation directory for the Verisurf Device Interface
  3. C:\Users\<account>\Documents\My Mastercam 20XX
    1. Stores Verisurf configurations and report data
  4. C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\VDI
    1. Stores Verisurf Device Interface configuration files
  5. C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Shared Mastercam20XX
    1. Contains templates and example files
  6. C:\Users\Public\Documents\Verisurf
    1. Stores access code directory
  7. C:\Program Files\EasyCmm\CMMediator
    1. Installation directory for CMMediator Software and its dependencies
Note:
Replace “20XX” with the installed Verisurf/Mastercam version year on the target system.

2. Configure Antivirus Exclusions
Add the following executables to your antivirus software’s real-time protection exclusion list:
  1. C:\Program Files\Verisurf Device Interface\VReadout.exe
    1. Handles communication between Verisurf and the Verisurf Device Interface layer
  2. C:\Program Files\Verisurf Device Interface\IPPApp.exe
    1. Manages device driver communication and device control within Verisurf
  3. C:\Program Files\EasyCmm\CMMediator\CMMediator.exe
    1. Application that manages communication between Verisurf and CMMediator Software
Note:
While Verisurf follows the principle of least privilege, the above permissions and exclusions are required to allow proper interaction between Verisurf, the Verisurf Device Interface, and CMMediator Software. Without these configurations, users may experience connection issues, device control failures, or unstable system behavior.

If additional assistance is still required after performing these steps, please call Verisurf Support at 1-888-713-7201
