How to register the SwDocumentMgr.dll file?

Case:

Cannot find Parasolid data in SoldiWorks file error when trying to open it.  The SwDocumentMgr.dll file must be manually registered.

Cause:

The SwDocumentMgr.dll file did not register correctly and must be manually registered.

Solution:

There are two methods useful for registering a file.

1. Register manually with a Command Prompt:

      1. Find the command prompt: 

            • Windows 7: Start - All Programs - Accessories - Command Prompt

            • Windows 8 and 10: Start - All Programs - Windows System - Command Prompt

      2. Right-click on Command Prompt and choose Run as administrator.

      3. Change the directory to the location of the file. For example: cd C:\Program files\mcamx8\common\sworksdata

      4. Register the file by typing the following command pressing Enter: regsvr32.exe swdocumentmgr.dll 

2. Register through Advanced Configuration:

      1. From Windows Start, choose All Programs - Mastercam - Utilities - Advanced Configuration. (Windows 10: Right-                        click on Advanced Configuration, select More, then Run as administrator.)

      
            2. Select Components and, in the right pane, browse for the file C:\ProgramFiles\mcamx\common\SWORKSDATA
            3. Right-click on the  swdocumentmgr.dll file and choose Register Component.
