Description:

We often get asked about the sample rate, measurement parameters, and modes for the Leica Absolute family of Laser Trackers. Here is the scoop!

When the Measurement Mode is Single Point, Continuous, or Timer, the VDI will update at 100 Hz for the AT500, AT930, AT960, and ATS600. When the Measurement Mode is Stationary Point, the sample rate is automatically set per the LMF, and the sample rate is controlled by the profile Fast, Standard or Precise.

Below are a couple of screenshots to help explain more about the measurement controls, modes, and profiles for the Leica Absolute Tracker family.

To change the Stationary Point sample time:

With the device connected, select Device Controls from the Measure ribbon bar (1) or the Device Manager (2).

Select the Measurement Parameters (3) and choose Fast, Standard, or Precise, followed by selecting OK. In most cases, we find Fast is sufficient. However, we suggest using Standard or Precise when taking a measurement from a long distance or measuring in an environment where some harmonics or vibrations are present or if measuring outdoors.

When ready to measure, choose Stationary Point under Measurement Mode (4).

To change the Single Point, Continuous, or Timer sample rate:

With the device connected, select Device Controls from the Measure ribbon bar (5) or the Device Manager (6).

Select the Measurement Parameters (7), enter the desired Time Separation, and select OK. The default value is 10 ms, producing a sample rate of 100 Hz. The AT500 samples at a maximum of 100 Hz; however, the AT930, AT960, and ATS600 can be configured with a 1 ms Time Separation which would set the sample rate at 1,000 Hz. In most cases, 100 Hz is sufficient. However, we recommend a sample rate of 1,000 Hz when measuring large surface areas using the Continuous Measurement Mode or when the time stamp information is required for calculating speed or duration for needed applications.

When ready to measure, choose the desired Measurement Mode, Single Point, Continuous, or Timer (8).
