PURPOSE
This document provides the required system permissions and antivirus exclusion settings needed to ensure proper communication between Verisurf, the Verisurf Device Interface, and OEM control software such as Renishaw UCC Server.
SCOPE
In environments that enforce strict security policies (such as least privilege access), certain directories and executables may be restricted by default. These restrictions can interfere with communication between Verisurf Device Interface components, and OEM control software.
The intent of this document is to guide IT administrators and users in configuring:
- Required read/write permissions
- Antivirus exclusions for critical executables
This ensures stable operation and communication with connected measurement devices.
PROCESS
1. Configure Read/Write Permissions
Grant read/write permissions to the following directories:
- C:\Program Files\Mastercam20XX
- Root directory for Verisurf
- C:\Program Files\Verisurf Device Interface
- Installation directory for the Verisurf Device Interface
- C:\Users\<account>\Documents\My Mastercam 20XX
- Stores Verisurf configurations and report data
- C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\VDI
- Stores device interface configuration files
- C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Shared Mastercam20XX
- Contains templates and example files
- C:\Users\Public\Documents\Verisurf
- Stores access code data
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Renishaw
- Installation directory for Renishaw UCC Server and related components
Note:
Replace “20XX” with the installed Verisurf/Mastercam version year on the target system.
2. Configure Antivirus Exclusions
Add the following executables to your antivirus software’s real-time protection exclusion list:
- C:\Program Files\Verisurf Device Interface\VReadout.exe
- Handles communication between Verisurf and the device interface layer
- C:\Program Files\Verisurf Device Interface\IPPApp.exe
- Manages device driver communication and device control within Verisurf
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Renishaw\UCC\UCCSERVER\UCCSERVER_5XXXX\UCCSERVER.exe
- Controls the CMM and communicates with the Verisurf Device Interface
Note:
While Verisurf follows the principle of least privilege, the above permissions and exclusions are required to allow proper interaction between Verisurf, the device interface, and OEM control software. Without these configurations, users may experience connection issues, device control failures, or unstable system behavior.
